The Kaizo House

My name is Gregory, Freelance Film Director and now proud founder of Kaizo House.

Paper has always been a big part of my professional and personal life. Storyboards, sketches, writing ideas, personal journaling. I've always appreciated a good notebook.

But I always struggled with what was out there. Nothing ever felt right, especially the paper.

Out of that frustration I thought why not make my own. What first sounded silly quickly became something I deeply invested myself in. I always admired the craftsmanship and love to detail from Japanese culture, and suddenly everything clicked.

Almost two years later, Kaizo officially launches.

THE COMPANION
KAI — SEA

Depth. Movement. Possibility.

Just like the sea, human creativity is deep, mysterious and unpredictable, which makes it ever so beautiful.

簡素
KANSO — SIMPLICITY

The removal of excess.

Minimalism for both aesthetic as well as disciplinary reasons. No room for clutter, instead encouraging a free flow.

ZEN — STILLNESS

Calmness. Presence. Peace.

A bond between mind and body, creating a sense of presence allowing to completely immerse yourself.

Something was missing. Not features, but a feeling. So we made our own.

The Companion is named for what a notebook should be. Not a tool. Not a product, but something that becomes part of you and carries your ideas, thoughts and dreams. A notebook, that you don't have to carry, but want to carry.

The simplicity and feeling of the paper shouldn't be stopping you from using it but rather engange and inspire you.

Most notebooks we tested, seemed like a tool, rather then a companion, therefore we named it that way.
